Morphological Evaluation and Selection of Gladiolus (Gladiolus×Hybridus L.) Hybrids for Commercial Traits

This experiment was conducted with twenty-five gladiolus hybrids along a check at the research farm of Division Floriculture & Landscaping, ICAR, Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi to study performance and suitability for different traits. The mean hybrid data highly significant all characters studied; however, results indicated that early flowering seen in six such as Smokey Lady×Heady Wine Open seedling, Berton Green Willow× Oscar, Shweta×Regency, Canada×Green Finch Howard×Rose Time Steamboat ranging from 82.33 86.00 days after planting. maximum plant height 127.66 cm, spike length 116.00 cm rachis 63.33 were observed Rose hybrid, but number florets per 19.33 recorded hybrid. corms i.e., three or more than seven namely; Oscar×Green Willow, (Snow Princess×Ratna)×Urmil, Lady×Mayur, Snow Princess.×Howard, Berlew seedling (Dark orange), Pink Parassol respectively; whereas cormels range 50.00 – 64.00 five including variety.
